If it's their first year at school, or you're just getting back into the school routine, it can feel like a shock having to get everyone up and out the door on time. Here are our tips on how to make the morning routine easier for everyone.

Prep the night before

It's tempting to collapse on the sofa when everyone has finally gone to bed, but it will feel like the luxury of time compared to the next day when everyone is rushing around trying to get ready and leave the house on time. Get as much as you can done the night before as possible - prep breakfasts and lunches, lay out uniforms - even your own outfit helps!

Keep organised

Make sure all of their school belongings have specific spots that they're always kept in and returned to - when they get in from school, when you've done the washing up, when they've finished their homework etc. That way you don't lose any time in the morning rushing around trying to find school bags, lunch boxes and PE kits.

Reduce outfit choices

This doesn't apply if your little one has a school uniform, but if you have other kids to dress at the same time who don't have uniforms to wear, and you find that mornings turn into a wardrobe battle, minimising the options can make life easier and dressing quicker.

Sleep tight

A good night's sleep will always help the morning run a bit smoother. That starts with the night before, so establishing a good night time routine is essential, making sure everyone gets plenty of rest.
