Scarily Tasty Halloween Recipes You Simply Have To Try

Give your little ones something to 'fear' about this Halloween with our collection of scarily good and wickedly tasty holiday themed-recipes.

26-10-2020

With Halloween right around the corner, it's time to up the fear factor a notch or three.

If your children love the thrill of dressing up, trick or treating, and gorging on far too many sweets (I mean, who doesn't?!), then why not extend that Halloween spirit into your activities with them.

With a quick mix, boil and bubble, there won't be any toil or trouble in your Halloween celebrations this year.

From devilishly good cakes to scarily tasty meals, get your cauldrons at the ready and join us as we run through three recipes you simply have to try for Halloween this year... or else.

  1. Spooky Pumpkin Soup

Rather than carving pumpkins this year, why not put them to good use?

Pumpkin soups are super easy to make and are nice and nutritious for you and your little ones.

Simply combine butter, garlic, pumpkin, onion and vegetable stock all together and leave to boil. Then, mix with a hand blender before seasoning with salt and pepper.

To go one step further, while serving, you could even use Primula to create a unique spider web pattern across the surface of the soup.

  1. Monstrous Muffins

A quick Halloween treat to make with your children, muffins always go down well and - best of all - they can be decorated however you like.

Whether you'd rather top each one with slime green buttercream, a brain-shaped ball of icing, or a combination of both, there are a number of innovative ways to give your muffins that Halloween factor.

You could even use red food colouring to create a blood-like interior that will shock anyone who dares to eat one.

By mixing sugar, flour, baking powder and salt, and then adding an egg, some milk and some butter, this will create a basic muffin recipe for you and your children to fool around with.

  1. Bat & Ghost-Shaped Cookies

Another firm favourite of children the world over, cookies are the ideal recipe to utilise if you're looking to get a little creative this Halloween.

Whether you'd rather cut out spooky shapes yourself or make life easy for yourself by using a selection of cookie cutters once you've got your dough all made up, there are a whole host of decorative options to think about.

Our personal favourites would have to be bat or ghost-shaped cookies - the ideal snacks for you and your children to enjoy yourselves, or hand out to other children around the neighbourhood.
